I have lived in South Cerney for over sixteen years. My two sons went to school and college locally, and I was Chairperson of the Friends of Cirencester Kingshill School. For several years I was also on the Scout Hut Committee, which was responsible for maintaining and improving this important facility in the village.
I have also, along with other allotment holders, been working to form The Digger Uppers group, which includes working with the Football and Cricket club in the local composting scheme.
I was inspired to run as a councillor for the Water Park ward as I am concerned about what is happening in our ward. Firstly I am very concerned about the size and number of holiday homes in the Water Park and the diversion and high fencing of our footpaths, and the subsequent loss of traditional local walks. At the same time there are not enough homes for local people to rent or affordable homes to buy. As a councillor I have worked with my colleagues Cllr Esmond Jenkins and Mike Evemy and our parish councils to get starter homes built in the Water Park and promote the composting scheme in the area.
