I moved to the Water Park in 2004 with my family, attracted to this beautiful part of the Cotswolds, because the area offered a good environment to bring up our 2 young children.
Professionally,I run my own legal practice as a Notary Public.
Until recently, like many people I have steered clear of politics, but over the last 3 years I have been drawn in to the local residents campaign against the disposal of Keynes Country Park. The scandalous nature of the disposal of our country park to Watermark would disgrace any council. It is a stark reminder that without checks and balances operating at council level,we the public can’t presume that the current one party system will deliver locally what the people of the Water Park reasonably expect.
The affair has shaken many local people’s confidence that any Conservative dominated council really can deliver what we expect - sound financial management, value for money and fairness when it comes to balancing the often competing interests of local residents and businesses.
This is not how local democracy is supposed to work!
So how do we start to fix things? We need to start getting involved, questioning and making our views known. That is why I put my name forward to represent you at a by election in September 2009. In that election, you gave me a landslide victory, for which I have been extremely grateful. I was also re-elected at the May 2011 CDC elections.
Since I was elected,I have worked towards:
- Fighting for a fair deal for all the people in the Water Park, ensuring our interests are properly balanced with those of commercial developers
- Exposing fraud
- Questioning and scrutinising the local Council when it wastes our money and makes poor decisions without consulting us.
