Avening

Peter Burgess stood as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Avening Ward at the CDC elections on May 5 2011.

He has lived in Gloucestershire for 34 years and has been married for more than 50 years.

Four of his children attended Cirencester schools and 14 of his grandchildren have either attended or still attend schools in the CDC area.

He ran a business in Cirencester for 22 years and has experience of local government, having already served as a Gloucestershire County Councillor for the South Cotswolds in the 1990’s. He has very strong feelings about the serious lack of affordable housing in our area.

Peter is particularly concerned about the lack of plastics recycling on the doorstep when other neighbouring councils offer this service. He is also appalled at the wasting of taxpayers’money by CDC’s Tory administration over the last decade, including the large overspend on the waste service,£19,000 spent on a ‘magician’to motivate staff and the loss of millions of pounds in Icelandic investments.
