Cllr John Hughes
Town and District Councillor A grass roots activist, I feel very passionately about human rights, equality and our environment. I feel everyone should be given an equal chance, have the same freedom of choice and there should be more support given to those that need it. I joined the Lib Dems because they were the closest to my own views. I’m probably best described as a “progressive Liberal”. I also was part of the initial team that set up the youth wing, and feel that young people do not have a voice in Cirencester. I have strong links with the Cotswolds having lived here most of my life, through friends, family, and work. I live in the ward where I am standing, and have close ties here. Issues I feel strongly about locally; lack of affordable housing (especially for young people), drug abuse among young people and the lack of support they have, street crime, poor public services/amenities. Now that I’ve been elected I hope to raise these matters with council. To keep updated about what John is doing in the Ward you can follow him on Facebook. To contact John directly email: |
